2216

The 2013 Circuit action season started as usual with the annual VSCC Pomeroy Trophy meeting. Held at Silverstone on a very cold and wintery day, the windchill was -8 degrees and there were plenty of snow flurries in the air. Typically for Silverstone, there was different weather at different parts of the track, with a blizzard blowing at Becketts during the afternoon High Speed Trials, while Woodcote was dry. For the drivers of some of the oldest open vintage cars, this was probably the toughest Pomeroy Trophy meeting ever.

Former winner Dudley Sterry, at the wheel of his 1939 HRS Sport managed to fight off a strong challenge from the Frazer Nash brigade to take victory with the highest score in the five tests. Alastair Pugh was second in a Frazer Nash BMW 328 with Martin Hunt the first post war car to the flag in a Frazer Nash Targa Florio. The highest placed woman was Pia Bianchi in an MGB in 5th overall, while VSCC PR Manager Gillian Carr won the Edwardian Trophy in a very open and exposed 1918 Vauxhall A/D Type.
