Now in its third year, the Cholmondeley - pronounced "Chumley"- Pageant of Power continues to improve and increase its appeal. It is quite unique in the UK, offering motorsport action for cars and bikes alongside water sports and aerial displays.

Wet weather in the morning caused a damp track giving the advantage to the cars, but the afternoon runs were on a dry track. The modern supercar finally proved to be faster than its racing ancestors with Nick Faulkner in the Lamborghini Gallardo taking fastest time over the 1.2 mile course. Surprisingly motorbikes took 2nd and 3rd places overall, with Tom Sykes riding the Kawasaki Ninja Zx-10R taking 2nd overall and winning the motorcycle class with Darren Fry 3rd on his Ducati 848. The MG Metro 6R4 of Ian Rowlance taking 4th overall. Jan Van Nierop flew his Audi 80 to 5th overall and 3rd fastest car.

A tribute to Tom Wheatcroft, the man behind the revival of Donington Park in the 1970s, bought some of his favorite cars out from his prized Donington Collection, the biggest Grand Prix museum in the world. Several unique Vanwalls were put through their paces, with Tom's son Kevin doing some of the driving.

Favourite with the spectators was the spectacular JCB GT, a modified digger with a mighty V8 engine. Its high performance allowed it to perform a wheelie, lifting the front 2 wheels into the air. Smoking off the line, its roar could be heard for miles around.
