San Rafael CA - The Marin Sonoma Concours d’Elegance will be a celebration of the artistic design and elegant engineering of the automobile from the past to the future. The Marin Civic Center Fairground is a beautiful location to display many unique vintage and classic cars that will be competing for Best in Show Concours d’Elegance and Best in Show Concours de Sport at this first annual event.

The Marin Sonoma Concours d’Elegance will also include several special exhibits such as Super Cars including a 1995 McClaren F1 , Celebrity Cars “Cars of the Stars” including George Lucas’ Tucker as well as cutting edge Alternative Energy Vehicles featuring a Fisker Karma. There will also be on display a 1937 Packard that crossed the Golden Gate Bridge the first day it was open to traffic May 1937. The featured exhibit, Curves, Elegance, and Speed - Our Cars of 1929, will be a special showcase of the extravagant and unique automobiles built in 1929 by either American or International manufacturers. There will also be a four-ship flyby at noon of Marin pilots doing 3 passes over the event in three separate formations.

Exhibitors of exceptional automotive products and services plus live music, food, and family activities will fill out the program. Check out the jump and jive swingin’ sounds of Stompy Jones at 11:00 and Steve Lucky and the Rumba Bums at 1:00. Charlie Goodman, a Marin resident and vintage car collector is serving as chairman for the event. "This is going to be a very upscale car show," he said. "There hasn't been anything like this in Marin or Sonoma County for many years and there appears to be a lot of enthusiasm." The event is a benefit for Hospice By The Bay, a non-profit organization that has been comforting and caring for seriously ill patients and their families since 1975.
