The Mercedes-Benz 220 SE Cabriolet belongs to the elegant top-end Mercedes-Benz models of the 1950s. Its classic lines, generous chrome details and open bodywork give it the refined appearance for which this generation is so highly regarded today.

The car is accompanied by an official dating certificate from The Society of Automotive Historians in Britain, confirming chassis number 128030109502060 as a Mercedes-Benz 220 SE Convertible from the 1958 model year. The document also lists engine number 127980.

Its later history is also interestingly documented. According to a historical record, the car arrived in the United Kingdom from Switzerland in June 2004 and was subsequently placed in specialised vehicle storage. In 2007, the leather interior was completely retrimmed and a new water pump was fitted. Historical photographs show the black bodywork combined with the red interior, black soft top and numerous elegant chrome details.

The car underwent a good professional restoration in the past. The body presents well and was professionally repainted. The interior was also restored, the soft top was renewed and the carpets are in very good condition.

The underside is original and in good condition and was repaired during an older restoration. The tyres still have good tread, but date from 1983 and therefore have only limited remaining use.

Technically, the engine is in good condition following an older restoration, while the engine bay presents in good, honest condition. The car has been well maintained. The clutch and 4-speed manual transmission work well. The braking system requires repair due to a 30% difference between the front brakes and air in the braking system.
