The Mercedes-Benz 190 SLR presented here is a unique homage to the legendary 300 SLR – the car that became famous in the 1950s thanks to iconic victories in races such as the Mille Miglia, Targa Florio, and the Tourist Trophy. Historical Context – From Grand Prix to Iconic Roadster

The 300 SLR was developed in 1955 by Mercedes-Benz under the direction of legendary engineer Rudolf Uhlenhaut. Based on the Formula 1-winning W196, the 300 SLR featured a magnesium alloy body, a 3.0-liter inline-eight engine, and a top speed of over 300 km/h. Today, original 300 SLR race cars are considered some of the most valuable cars in the world, with the famous Uhlenhaut Coupé selling for a record 135 million euros in 2022, making it the most expensive car ever sold.



Design in the Spirit of the SLR

This 1962 190 SLR has been fully restored and modified to capture the pure, uncompromising spirit of the 300 SLR, while retaining the refinement of the classic 190 SL. Key features of this transformation include:

· Weber Carburetors: For extra power and sharper throttle response, the four-cylinder engine is equipped with Weber carburetors, delivering a distinctive intake sound and more immediate power delivery.

· No Windshield: Like the original 300 SLR, the windshield has been removed and replaced with low racing windshields for an authentic racing feel and reduced drag.

· No Door Handles: Traditional door handles have been removed for a cleaner, competition-inspired look.

· No Roof or Soft Top: This model is fully open, just like the SLR, delivering a pure, wind-in-your-face driving experience.

· Luxurious Original Interior: Despite the sporty modifications, the original, luxurious leather interior has been preserved, finished in the classic DB608 Elfenbein (ivory) with red leather, a combination often seen in 1950s sports cars. This highlights the car's classic character and creates a timeless, stylish appearance that perfectly complements the sporty lines of the 190 SLR.

· Reversible Modifications: Although the car has been converted to SLR style, it can easily be returned to its original 190 SL convertible configuration, enhancing the car's value and versatility.
