Classic Lotus Festival
The Classic Team Lotus of Clive Chapman held on 20
June at the Snetterton circuit (GB) the Classic Lotus Festival.
There was a packed programme of Lotus racing, starring Lotus Cup
Europe and Lotus on Track Elise Trophy.
Other track action includes the GAZ Shocks Production BMW
Championship, Heritage Grand Touring Car Challenge and the Mono
Championship for single seaters.
The highlight of the event was a stunning gathering of each model
raced by Team Lotus in Formula 1.
From the 1957 Type 12 to the 1994 type 109, thirty-five Types in
total.
After Colin Chapman's widow Hazel cut the ribbon to formally open
the static display, the cars were lined up on the grid for a
photoshoot, following which many of them took to the track.
The Lotus Racing F1 Team drivers Heikki Kovalainen and Jarno
Trulli drove respectively the John Player Specials types 77 and 91,
whilst Mike Gascoyne fulfilled a boyhood dream by getting behind
the wheel of a Gold Leaf type 49B!
After taking the legendary JPS type 72 on the track third driver
Farouk Fauzy demonstrated a brand new Lotus Racing T127 en route to
the European Grand Prix in Valencia.
There was also a static display of Lotus Cars, the new Elise 2010
and the Exige Cup 260 plus rarely seen Lotus car concepts such as
the Carbon Evora and the Evora Hybrid.
It was a fantastic, unique occasion to see all the Formula One
cars of Britain's most iconic team.
I would like to thanks Lotusforum.be for giving me the opportunity
to go to this great event and for taking care of the press
accreditation.
