The Masters Series returned to Donington Park in October with an interesting mix of races. Star billing went to the GP Masters races, with two races being held over the weekend, part 1 on Saturday and part 2 on Sunday to give a combined result. Michael Lyons showed himself to be the class of the field in the first race, winning by 35.007 seconds in the Hesketh 308E. Mark Dwyer bought home the March 811 in second place and Richard Barber in the distinctive Fittipaldi F5a took the final podium place. The second race proved just as decisive for Michael Lyons winning again by 35.483 seconds. This time it was Simon Fish in the Ensign N180 who finished 2nd while Richard Barber was again 3rd in his Fittipaldi F5a which was enough to move Richard to 2nd overall on the combined results from overall winner Michael Lyons in the Hesketh. Mark Dwyer took 3rd overall in the combined results.

The World Sports Car Masters had a single 1 hour race on the Sunday which saw victory for the Lola T210 of Kemp/Sykes from the unusual Huffaker Genie of Simon Hadfield in 2nd and the Taydec Mk3 ofAndrew Middleton finished 3rd. The Gentleman drivers race saw a TVR double as Mike Whitaker Snr won the hour and a half race in his TVR Griffith ahead of the similar car of the McInerney family.

The unusual races on the meeting card were the two CanAm Interserie Challenge races. The Saturday race followed a rather heavy hail storm which made the track wet and slippery which led to the embarrassing moment when the safety car spun off the circuit while leading the field round for  rolling start. Once the race was underway, David Mercer took the lead in his Spice SE90C from the thundering McLaren M8F of Andrew Newall and Mike Wrigley finished 3rd in his nimble March75S. The second race on the Sunday saw Mercer and Newall again  take the top two steps of the podium with Michele Ligouri in a Lola T292 finish third. In the combined results Mercer in the Spice won, Newall in the McLaren was 2nd and Leo Voyazides took 3rd overall in his Lola T280.

Leo also won the Pre-66 Touring car race at the wheel of his Ford Falcon. The Masters 70s Celebration race was again a two part affair with Alec Hammond winning the Saturday race in his Chevrolet Camaro from Mark Bates in a Porsche 911 RSR. Mark then won the Sunday race from the Camaro driven by  Nigel Greensall. The Sunday victory was enough to give Mark bates the overall victory from the shared Hammond/Greensall Chevrolet Camaro
